The Save Abandoned Babies Foundation helps spread awareness of the Safe Haven law – allowing a parent to safely relinquish their newborn to a person at a Police Station, Fire Station or Emergency Medical Facility with no questions asked. Tell a friend. Talk about it. You might save a life.

About The Safe Haven Law

A Safe Place For Your Newborn

How The Illinois Safe Haven Law Works

Your unharmed newborn, up to 30 days old, can be handed to staff at a Safe Haven – a Police Station, Fire Station or Emergency Medical Facility.

In return, you can remain anonymous and will not be prosecuted for abandonment.

Your child will be placed with a loving adoptive family.

Your Donation Makes a Difference

In Illinois, 157 newborns have been safely relinquished under the law since the Safe Haven Act was passed in 2001. Unfortunately, 92 newborns in Illinois were unsafely abandoned and 48 of those babies died.

That is why awareness about the Safe Haven Law is so important. We offer an option to a desperate parent – that helps save lives.

Please help us continue our passion, commitment, and dedication to spreading awareness of Safe Haven laws.
